WWW.IRISHGOLFER.IE Peter Finnan, on behalf of the team T iger Woods is the first to admit he does not enjoy the best of Ryder Cup records but after ending a more than 5-year victory drought last Sunday in Atlanta he is most-eager to do his part this week in helping the USA Team end a 25-year losing run on European soil. This week will be Tigers eighth Ryder Cup appearance but Paris will be his first in six-years and his career Ryder Cup record does not reflect his career (Wins, Loss- es, Halves): 13-17-3 "My record certainly is some- thing that, looking back on my entire Ryder Cup career, that's not something that I have really enjoyed and I've really liked see- ing," he said. "I played a lot of the matches. Of those seven previous Ryder Cups, I've sat out one session, and that was the last session at Medinah. Otherwise, I've played every single match. We haven't done well. You know, the year that we won in 2008, I had re- construction knee surgery after the U.S. Open and I didn't play. And I was a vice captain in 2016, but it's different being a player." "We haven't won as a U.S. squad in 25 years on European soil, so hopefully that will change this week, as well." "It's going to be fun," he said Woods. "It's an awesome envi- ronment." It's shocking to think Woods has only been on one winning Ryder Cup team as a player and that was way back in 1999 at Brookline. Hopefully he doesn't end the streak this week!
