WWW.IRISHGOLFER.IE Peter Finnan, on behalf of the team P aul Dunne began his title defence at this week's British Masters with a leading role in the pre-tour- nament Hero shoot-out at London's Canary Wharf where he lost out to 'Beef' Johnston in the final. It has not been quite the 2018 season that Dunne ex- pected following his success in 2017, despite his GolfSixes victory this year. He currently sits in 51st place on the Race to Dubai, knowing that a huge improvement on recent form is required as he is entering this week on the back of four missed cuts in his last five tournaments. Walton Heath is the venue and Dunne will be looking to kick start his run- in to Dubai and he knows all too well the importance of momentum at this crucial stage of the season. "Walton Heath is a great venue," said Dunne. "I've played here quite a lot. It's a big event at a great time of the year, just before the end of the season Rolex Series events. With it having a good purse and a good field, it makes such a difference no matter what you're vying for, whether it's top-25 or top-60 in the Race to Dubai, or to keep your card. There's a lot on the line." Dunne is one of three Irish players in the field this week and is joined by Padraig Harrington and Shane Lowry. Paul Dunne is hoping to rediscover form in British Masters defence DUNNE DEFENDING Paul Dunne
