It's another brilliant initiative aimed at increasing female par- ticipation in our sport and it's again being promoted by Scot- tish Golf, Wales Golf and The Irish Ladies Golf Union/Confed- eration of Golf in Ireland. Between the R&A's Women in Golf Charter, the 20x20 initiative aimed at increasing women's involvement in sport by 20% by 2020 across attend- ance, participation and media coverage - plus the historic vote that saw Ireland finally merge two unions into one to create a single governing body for golf in Ireland – Golf Ireland, atti- tudes towards women golfers are definitely turning around in this country and beyond. February was a landmark month for golf as the land Down Under turned the game on its head when the first mixed group swung side by side, representing the LPGA and European Tours. The ISPS Handa Vic Open audi- tioned a blueprint for the golfing world to follow, offering both male and female players equal pay and opportunity in an in- spiring week blanketed by the Australian sunshine. We've since seen the Jordan Mixed Open prove a great suc- cess, women and men teeing side by side in the GolfSixes while next month at Galgorm, the new ISPS Handa World Invi- tational Men | Women, present- ed by Modest! Golf Manage- It's Women and Girls' Golf Week, something we should all get behind for the good of our great game. SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE GIRLS THIS WEEK ment will see stars of the women's game and the Challenge Tour faceoff for equal prize mon- ey and opportunity at another ground-breaking tournament. All roads are pointing to eventu- al equality in our sport. Although we're only really at the start of that journey, it's weeks like this that highlight just how far golf has come, but also just have far we've still to go.
