AGENDA COLUMNS & OPINIONS PREVIEW THIS WEEK'S EVENTS NEW GEAR THE LATEST KIT REVEALED WEEKLY ROUNDUP THE LATEST GOLF NEWS WEEKLY STATS VIDEO OF THE WEEK Peter Finnan, on behalf of the team J ohn Daly will soon make his debut on the PGA Champions Tour and seems to be having an early season clear out. Green Jacket Auc- tions have acquired the "Wild Things" replica of golf's oldest prize, his Claret Jug from his 1995 Open victory. Winners only get to keep the actual one for a year before having to return it to the R&A but have the option of getting some replicas made up. When Daly triumphed at the Open, he was 29 and wide- ly considered to be American golf's uncouth, un-tameable wild card. Sports Illustrated's commentary on the win began like this: "Barkeep, Pour us another giant Slurpee and toss us half a dozen Ding Dongs. Lend us a Marlboro and six or so of them Advil. Fill up that ol' claret jug with Diet Coke, and let's everybody shave each other's heads. We need to celebrate John Daly-style because the Kid from the Wrong Side of the Country Club just went and won himself a British Open at the Home of Golf is all." The sterling silver trophy is list- ed at $11,000 as the bidding currently stands. According to the site, this is Daly's "player" version of the jug. There is a little uncertainty as to how they got the Jug as Daly himself men- tioned the auction on Twitter saying "Just to let everyone know I still have my CLARET JUG xtra 1 thought was going to be donated to St Andrews museum #nevergiveupmy2ma- jortrophies" You can buy John Daly's replica right now EVER WANTED A CLARET JUG?
